Just call me Flash Gordon!!

{Workout}

Monday 9:30PM , Treadmill: 3miles = 26:41minutes
___________________________________________________

There's gonna be a lot of disappointed faces if you really thought I was the second coming of Flash...

Firstly, can you tell I'm a bit sporadic with workout times? Sunday it was 10miles at 8am, Monday it's 9:30pm.

Also, I've done a lot of outdoor running lately. It has knocked me down several times in the last while - the weather conditions of snow, rain and wind is not something I'm used to running in and I simply find it HARD!
My legs have been feeling lost for quite a while, too.

It was supposed to be a rest day, but I was in a running mood last night. I got on the treadmill and it felt heaaaaaaavenly. My legs felt light! I have no doubt that the rough runs have really really helped me!

It turned out to be the fastest 3 miles in a loooong time.

Can you see the resemblance to Flash? Maybe if I wear red next time?? yeah??

A big personal accomplishment for me!
I held on 8:57 pace for more than 2 miles, then ended it with 8:20s.
I can't even tell you how excited this has gotten me..and how motivated I am to keep pushing to get better!

I haven't seen 9's consistently since being injured, let alone 8's!

I got a little thing called work this morning and then I'm heading home to my parents house for a few days!

Thank YOU all for the downhill running advice - I've got a lot to watch out for/keep in mind when I tackle the next one..and I'm looking forward to it! I'm definitely a blog reader first and foremost and sooo many of you motivate me to work harder and get better!

Now, what are YOU doing today?!?
Are you running??
I'd like to either run 6 miles or do 60 minutes on the elliptical! + WEIGHTS. I constantly neglect doing it. Ahhhh.

  3. Hi Toronto runner,
nice pace - well done. It feels great when you go quicker than normal.
While you battle the cold, I'm in the southern hemisphere struggling some days in the heat - I'm not sure what would be harder.
Enjoy your time at your parents place :-)

    1. I think the only time I struggle with all the cold is when I'm tryna run outside..because otherwise, I'm REAAALLY not a fan of heat. iiick! I turn into Miss.Moody if I'm too hot. I hope it's not tooo bad where you are!

  4. Marathon training begins! I am ready to crush my 3 miles and then do some core work. I can't wait to throw myself into this! When I was aiming for my first 5k, I went in accepting nothing less than a sub 22 min run. The next one I wild accept nothing less than a sub 21. I need to figure out what marathon time I should target. According to my book, it should be 3:15 (yeah right!).

  6. Girl that is so awesome that you hit those times!! Especially right after your 10 miler. So happy for you :) Today is a run day for me!

  7. Exciting! Those outdoor runs are so much harder right now, but I can tell it's helping me with hills since the terrain had been so uneven (all of our snow melted this weekend). I've already done my 5 miles for the day, so I'm going to spend the rest of the day doing housework and playing with my kid.

  8. WTG, Speedy! Maybe your legs were craving the speed?

    I think it's a running day for me ;)

  9. Yay for a fast 3 miles. I am totally random in my workout times also. I just depends on when the kids have school/activities etc.... Do you find it hard to run that late at night?

    1. I don't usually find it hard. I find it much harder to get going in the morning. I think my best time would be around 8pm-ish. But, that means no outside running (darkness!) and I'd have to be on the treadmill!

  11. You've commented a couple times on my blog, and I'm just here to say I'm your newest follower! I've been wanting to read more running blogs, and yours is now on my list :) I'm hoping to do a marathon this year too, so I have the feeling your blog will be pretty relevant to me! Looking forward to reading more!

  12. I see you as Flash! haha. Actually when I played soccer everyone called me Flash (well flash and then my last name, but I don't want to share that on here). My last name starts with an F though so it worked as a nice nickname!

  17. Nice job on the 3-miler!! Feels so good when you can get those speedy miles in sometimes. I'm hoping to get in a short run today too. Maybe 3 miles. If that doesn't happen, I'll probably do some plyometrics.

  19. You are so motivational to me! haha. Just seeing your running stats makes me want to go hop on the treadmill! I have been doing the couch to 5k app, so I hope that it will help ease me into running. For some reason (possibly related to a heart condition I have/and/or being anemic) I just can't take too much activity! So I really hope I can ease my way into it:) Don't worry though, I have been cleared by my doctor to do workouts and stuff, haha!

  20. Good job on your run! I was up at 5:30 this morning getting my 6 miles done on the treadmil. But, unlike you, I felt SLOW today! Keep mixing up the pace and all your runs will gradually get faster. :)

Love the pic of you before work. Makes me think I should shower and put on some makeup once in a while. Ha!

    1. I have an INCREDIBLY hard time to rack up the miles in distance on the treadmill..even with Tv as entertainment, I just can't do it. I must do the longer runs outside!

  27. Great job! I really prefer the TM for speed running. You can up the pace and it keeps you honest. I always run tempos too quickly outside and end up crashing and burning. For long or easy runs - outdoors all the way. Sporadic running times just mean a full life. Enjoy.

  28. I don't know how you do it! My husband loves to run, but with the weather the way it has been--he hasn't stepped foot outside. However, he does go to the gym often to work out. I must commend you for the discipline--snow and rain? Yeesh!

  36. Awesome run! I'm trying to get to a point of pacing myself so that I finish faster than I start. I would have been happy running 8:57 all the way through so that's exciting to finish with an 8:20 pace. All those long runs are paying off!

    ReplyDelete
  37. yeah!! Great pace! I know exactly what you mean. Sometimes you'll have a run that just makes you realize how much you love running, all over again. :)
